It is holiday season and you know what that means, treats and sweets galore! It’s easy to get caught up in the festivities but remember to keep your smile happy by flossing the right way daily. Flossing is the best way to clean the spaces in between your teeth where your toothbrush cannot reach. Brushing and flossing together are essential to rid your mouth of plaque build up to prevent tooth decay, periodontal disease bad breath, and staining.

Tip #1
Take 12-16 inches (30-40cm) of dental floss and wrap it around your middle fingers, leaving about 2 inches (5cm) of floss between the hands.
Tip #2
Using your thumbs and forefingers to guide the floss, gently insert the floss between your teeth using a sawing motion.
Tip #3
Curve the floss into a “C” shape around each tooth and under the gum line. Gently move the floss up and down, cleaning each tooth.
Tip #4
Do not pop the floss in and out between the teeth as this will inflame and cut the gums.
